ISKCON and Bhaktivedanta Manor

About ISKCON

ISKCON, the International Society for Krishna consciousness, also known as the “Hare Krishna movement,” was founded by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and his followers in 1966 in New York. His aim was to create a global confederation of Krishna devotees based on the spiritual teachings of the east known as the Vedas, and especially the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam.

ISKCON has since grown into a worldwide organization of individuals, communities, temples, farm projects, schools, and restaurants, each centered on the ideal of service to the Supreme God who is referred to as Krishna, ‘the all attractive one’. This process is known as bhakti yoga.
